One of the latest potential finds for the Lakers scouting department, Mac McClung has long been a known name around the basketball world. However, he’s gone from a simple viral high school sensation to legitimate NBA prospect, as the Lakers have found out by watching him all year in the G League.

The Lakers have begun to showcase players like Malik Monk and Austin Reaves, and even waived Trevor Ariza in order to clear up a roster spot to get a longer look at Wenyen Gabriel, who was previously on a two-way deal. McClung agreed to a two-way contract with the Lakers on Friday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports. McClung spent time with the G League's South Bay Lakers this year and averaged 21.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 7.6 assists in 36.3 minutes per game with the club. He'll be rewarded with a two-way deal ahead of the NBA's regular-season finale.

McClung logged 23 points (8-18 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 10 assists and three rebounds across 35 minutes during Tuesday's 134-123 win over the Santa Cruz Warriors. McClung averaged 21.7 points and 7.6 assists across 26 regular-season G League games this year. Not too surprisingly, he was the Lakers' best player during their playoff quarterfinal win Tuesday.

McClung logged 22 points (7-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 7-7 FT), four rebounds, three assists and two steals across 31 minutes during Saturday's 128-125 win over the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
