Connell, who enjoyed a fantastic loan spell in Mount Florida, helping the now-professional side to promotion, hit an absolute scorcher against Albion Rovers to secure the personal accolade.

Celtic youngster Luca Connell has admitted that he “wasn’t doing much” at the club before he left for Queen’s Park on loan. Connell has just finished his second season at Celtic, and still remains nowhere near the first-team. Despite arriving from Championship side Bolton, where he was playing every week, he spent the second half of last season on loan in Scottish League Two.

Celtic duo Jonathan Afolabi and Luca Connell were both involved for the Republic of Ireland under-21 group in this afternoon’s win against Australia. The rarely seen Hoops duo have just returned to the club from respective loan spells. Afolabi is back from a disappointing period with Dundee in the Championship. Connell, meanwhile, is in good form after securing the League Two title with Queen’s Park.
