NORMAN, Okla. — It's been an emotional couple of days around the Sooner men's basketball program. Lon Kruger's retirement ends a memorable decade for the Crimson and Cream. “Thanks, Mike [Houck], and thanks, President [Joe] Harroz. Thanks, Joe [Castiglione]. Really, really appreciate those kind words, those remarks," Kruger said. "In some ways, it’s going to be extremely difficult. I guess you only do it once. So, my function, like Mike said, really is to say thank you today to so many people. And intentionally I haven’t written much down. As I started doing that, I realized the list of people to thank individually was ridiculous. So many people have been involved in so many ways. Barb and I have had the opportunity for the last 45 to 50 years to get up every day and do something we love to do. And the people that we’ve had the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with over those 50 years is about basketball and because of basketball, and we’re so grateful to so many different people.
