Lil Gotit Drops New Project "Top Chef GotIt"

Ahead of the release, the rapper chops it up with Mike Boyd. These last four years have seen Lil Gotit making a name for himself as a part of the younger generation of Atlanta musicians that are taking over. The 21-year-old started his career collaborating with the likes of his brother Lil Keed, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, and Young Thug eventually releasing his debut studio album Hood Baby in November 2018, following it up with his sophomore effort Crazy But It’s True in March 2019 and Hood Baby 2 in August 2019.

Lil Gotit shares new project Top Chef Gotit

Lil Gotit emerged in 2018 as one of the most hotly-tipped new rappers in Atlanta, and that's something special considering his hometown is a hip-hop city where there's never any shortage of exciting emerging talent. Inspired by Young Thug and buoyed by his ties with his brother Lil Keed, another Atlanta rap freshman, Gotit kept the hype alive and secured himself a couple of underground hits in the process. Today, Gotit returns with his fourth tape, Top Chef Gotit. He's enlisted features from Atlanta rap royalty Young Thug and Gunna, with his brother Keed on the song "Get N Dere Gang" and NAV on the previously released single "Burnt N Turnt." Lil Gotit released Top Chef Gotit on Thursday and it features the same posse of parseltongue spitters that helped him gain his fan base. Along with appearances from his brother Lil Keed, Top Chef Gotit is home to verses from Young Thug, Nav, and more.

Although rising Atlanta star Lil Gotit isn’t a member of YSL Records proper, he is closely affiliated through his brother Lil Keed, as well as a lyrical style that fits right in alongside the likes of Young Thug and Gunna. The latter strengthens the bond with the younger affiliate on Gotit’s new song “Work Out.” While Gotit leads things off with a high-pitched, high-velocity verse, Gunna mellows things out in his sparse additions, giving Gotit a near-perfect foil against which to reflect.

Lil Gotit has just unveiled the new visuals for his song “Toosie.” The video is directed by Gunna, who is also producing Gotit’s upcoming project, Top Chef Gotit. Lil Gotit is yet another reflection of the constantly evolving rap scene in Atlanta that continues to breed new and unique talent. Harnessing the mid-90s energy of the 69 Boyz, Gotit samples the group’s “Tootsee Roll” at the beginning of the track and then adds his own unique spin to it. The mashup of “Tootsee Roll” in the hook coupled with the hard bass on “Toosie” makes for an all-around club banger. Delivering heavy summer barbeque energy, Gunna makes a cameo appearance in the music video as well.

Alamo Records is truly a powerhouse in the rap game right now. With artists like Lil Durk, Rod Wave, and 03 Greedo leading the team, Alamo’s also been introducing a ton of new talent in recent times.
