On Wednesday, March 16, the Department of Film & Media Studies and the Lang Center for Civic & Social Responsibility hosted a screening and panel discussion of two episodes of the award-winning docuseries, Philly D.A. Rep Corman says that on January 18th, 2022 he submitted a letter asking for impeachment proceedings to begin due to alleged negligence to prosecute violent crimes in the city of Philadelphia. “After the City suffered a record 562 of homicides in 2021, Philadelphia remains on pace to match that number in 2022 with 64 homicides through February 14. In addition, there were a record number of carjackings in the city through February 2 with 140 incidents.” said Rep Corman in the press release.

Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner Announces Rehabilitation Unit For Young Adults In Criminal Justice System

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and his staff announced a new unit Monday that will be focused on helping out young adults ages 18 to 25 who are in the criminal justice system. It will emphasize rehabilitation, over punishment for young adults who are non-violent offenders. The DA said in a Monday news conference the initiative is only for non-violent offenders. “This is a public safety effort,” Krasner said. “The individuals eligible for the emerging adult initiative are not shooters. They are not felons in possession of a firearm. They are people charged with other kinds of offenses and require the sort of individualized justice that makes us safer.” Krasner said the unit, focused on 18 to 25-year-olds, will consult with ‘victim service providers’ — to appropriately hold young adults accountable.
