An edge rusher was a consensus need for the team heading into the offseason with the expectation that Melvin Ingram was not going to return, along with the fact that Isaac Rochell was hitting free agency and not expected to be brought back.

Chargers agree to terms with linebacker Kyler Fackrell

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers have agreed to terms with outside linebacker Kyler Fackrell. Fackrell will be going into his sixth season, He had four sacks in nine starts for the New York Giants last season along with a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown against Dallas in a Oct. 11 loss.

Fackrell had 34 tackles (23 solo), four sacks, two defended passes and one interception (which he returned for a touchdown) across 12 games with the Giants in 2020. Fackrell started nine of 12 appearances in his inaugural season with the Giants, but his defensive role didn't translate into consistent enough fantasy numbers to warrant much IDP consideration. The 29-year-old is set to hit free agency this offseason, and he may have to settle for a depth role at his next landing spot.

Fackrell (lower leg) was activated off injured reserve and will be available for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Zack Rosenblatt of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
