Ty Jerome, Kyle Guy Relive National Championship Run on ’68 Shining Moments’ Podcast

You may have heard Kyle Guy or Ty Jerome talk about Virginia’s 2019 national championship run before, but never as candid as they were during their appearance on the 68 Shining Moments podcast. Both Guy and Jerome appear on Jeff Goodman’s new show via Zoom and it’s a great format for the conversation. They’re allowed to swear, unlike a lot of other appearances they’ve done, and there’s definitely some benefit to talking about things after spending two years in the NBA. They’re a little older, a little wiser. They can appreciate what they did and how fun those college years were. You can find the audio below (via Spotify) or video above (via YouTube).

Kyle Guy roasts UVA critics after team defeats Syracuse at the buzzer

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament doesn't begin until next week, but Virginia -- still the defending NCAA national champion after last year's tournament was canceled -- quite literally experienced a dose of March Madness on Thursday as the Cavaliers knocked off Syracuse at the buzzer in the ACC Men's Basketball Tournament. And it was only a matter of time after Reece Beekman's game-winner that current NBA player and former UVA star Kyle Guy, a member of the 2019 team that won it all, clapped back at those who have criticized the program's style of basketball as "boring."

Guy scored seven points (2-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), grabbed three rebounds and dished five assists in a loss to the Warriors on Monday. The blowout loss allowed Guy to play his most minutes this season, and he performed reasonably well, placing second on the team with five dimes while tallying seven points. The 23-year-old could get more opportunities as the season wears on if the 3-4 Kings fall out of the playoff race. He averaged 21.5 points in the G League and ranked third overall with 142 three-pointers last season.

Kyle Guy keeps doing Kyle Guy things as he drills game winning buzzer beater against Golden State

With just over six seconds left in Sacramento’s preseason game against the Golden State Warriors, Kyle Guy got the ball off an inbounds pass. His Kings squad was down by two and needing a bucket to try and salvage a win in a game that they once led by 19. Guy nearly collided with his teammate at the top of the arc, but spun free and lost his defender in the process. After a perfectly executed pump fake that got the help defender off his feet, Guy canned the game-winning shot as time expired.
