DES MOINES, Iowa – Gov. Kim Reynolds on Tuesday announced the appointment of Kraig Paulsen to serve as interim director of the Department of Management. He currently serves as director of the Iowa Department of Revenue. Paulsen replaces Joel Anderson, serving as interim director after Michael Bousselot resigned last month to run and win the special election in Iowa House District 37. Paulsen’s appointment is effective October 1, 2021.

DES MOINES — Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Tuesday that she has appointed Kraig Paulsen to direct the state Department of Management effective Friday. Paulsen, 57, a former speaker of the Iowa House from Hiawatha who currently directs the Iowa Department of Revenue, will serve as interim management agency leader. He replaces Joel Anderson, who was serving as interim director after Michael Bousselot resigned last month to successfully run for an open seat in House District 37.

Kraig Paulsen to lead Iowa budget agency

Governor Kim Reynolds has decided to appoint Kraig Paulsen to lead the Iowa Department of Management, according to a document posted on the state budget agency’s website September 27. The governor’s office has not yet announced the decision, but the agenda for the October 4 meeting of the State Appeal Board indicates that Paulsen will be introduced as “Director of the Department of Management.”
