According to Jim Matheson, it’s expected that Tyler Benson will draw in for his first NHL game of the season. Kostin, meanwhile, has appeared in seven games with the Oilers since his recall from the Bakersfield Condors, and there’s lots to like about his game. With him on the ice at 5×5, the Oilers have outshot their opponents 46-23, but been outscored 1-2. A promising sign is the Oilers have controlled 55.76 percent of the expected goal share with him on the ice.

Oilers' Klim Kostin: Scores after one-game absence

Kostin scored a goal in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Wild. Kostin's goal didn't change anything -- it came in the dying seconds of regulation, but it was his first as an Oiler. The 23-year-old winger missed Wednesday's game with visa issues, but he should be back in the lineup now that those have been resolved. He's up to 17 hits, 16 shots on net and four PIM through eight contests, serving mainly as a bottom-six option so far. Kostin had nine points in 40 outings with the Blues last year, so he could provide some depth scoring if his offense takes a step forward.

Blues re-sign winger Klim Kostin to one-year, $750K deal

The St. Louis Blues have re-signed winger Klim Kostin on a one-year deal worth $750K, per Bally Sports’ Andy Strickland. Drafted 31st overall in 2017, Kostin hasn’t broken out offensively yet, but he hasn’t exactly been given the chance. In 40 games in 2021-22, Kostin had just four goals and nine points, but he was limited to playing only nine minutes per contest. With David Perron departing the organization, though, Kostin has a shot to work his way into a top-nine role and therefore more ice time.

Blues' Klim Kostin: Signs one-way deal

Kostin signed a one-year, one-way contract extension with the Blues on Wednesday. Kostin spent most of the 2021-22 game with the big club, picking up nine points through 40 appearances, but he also drew into 17 games with AHL Springfield, collecting six points over that span. The 23-year-old winger will probably take on a larger role with the Blues in 2022-23, but it's unlikely he'll produce enough offense to become a useful fantasy option.
