King Willem Alexander

King Willem-Alexander of Netherlands is the second-youngest monarch in Europe after Felipe VI of Spain. The king took over the throne in 2013, after his mother stepped down as the queen. Before becoming the new king of Netherlands, he was the prince of Orange. He also served in the ‘Royal Netherlands Navy’ before ascending to the throne. He was honorably discharged from the army after the government declared that the head of the state could not be a serving member of the armed forces. He was also a member of the ‘International Olympic Committee’ from 1998 to 2013. As a chairman, he has contributed to the betterment of boards and committees such as the ‘Advisory Committee on Water to the Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and the Environment’ from 2004 to 2013 and the ‘United Nations Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation’ from 2006 to 2013. His contribution to such organizations clearly shows his interest and passion toward water conversation, sanitation, and management. He swore in as the king of Netherlands on April 30, 2013.
