Letter: Kevin Dahl for Ward 3

Re: the July 18 article “Star’s endorsements in Wards 3 and 6.”. I was very surprised to see the Arizona Daily Star Editorial Board endorse Juan Padres for Ward 3 over Kevin Dahl. As a news source that frequently covers climate change-related news, it’s disappointing to see them say that Mayor Regina Romero’s efforts on climate change are enough. This is a crisis and it should be a top priority for all city leaders. We need as many leaders who understand this urgency as we can get. I support Kevin Dahl because he knows that climate change affects all areas of our society, including business and the economy.

Letter: Kevin Dahl for Tucson City Council

The Daily Star’s decision not to endorse Kevin Dahl for the Ward 3 City Council seat is short-sighted, assuming that Mayor Romero provides sufficient environmental support. This not only underestimates the interdisciplinary nature of our overwhelming environmental issues, but also minimizes the potential contributions of multi-talented Kevin Dahl. Tucson faces...

Letter: Daily Star convinced me to vote for Kevin Dahl

I wasn't sure which candidate for whom to vote in the Democratic Primary for Ward 3 until I read the Arizona Daily Star's endorsement of Padres. Kevin Dahl's opponent is the Star's choice because of his business experience. Tucson, like America, doesn't need another businessman in government. Dahl's experience as outlined briefly (and incompletely) in the editorial convinced me in those few words that he is the better choice. I mailed in my vote today! Thanks, Arizona Daily Star!

Letter: Kevin Dahl for City Council (plus . . .)

OK, the Star did not endorse Kevin Dahl for City Council. That is your right. But you branded him a one-issue candidate (the environment) which is really stupid. Kevin has long been an activist, concerned citizen, agriculturalist, and more. He cares education, transportation, water justice, economic justice, the arts, and more. He has an amazing talent for working to find solutions, not trying to impose his own unbending position. What a light in a desert of darkness! So you wronged him, and even, perhaps, lied about him. That's one strike. Then you said an environmentalist is not needed on the council because we already have the mayor. Is that like saying the council already has someone concerned about transportation, so we don't need someone else, or the US Congress already has one free trade supporter, so we don' need another. Really stupid!

Letter: Wish I Could Vote for Kevin Dahl

The protection of the Sonoran Desert is my top issue. Every day I see the desert plowed under for uncontrolled development. Every day I see developers creating increasing demand for water by building more and more new houses, while residents are told to conserve and stop using water. Every day I see more road widening, more freeways, which means more heat retention, more and more traffic, and less desert. Unfortunately, I live in Pima County, so I can't vote for Kevin Dahl. I sure wish we had a candidate in Pima County like Kevin Dahl. So I sent him a donation instead.

Letter: Kevin Dahl for Ward 3

Even thought the Star didn’t endorse Kevin Dahl, it gave enough information for me to see that Kevin Dahlis the ward 3 candidate for whom I should vote. The Star rightly states that Kevin is a fighter for our environment, but implies that because mayor Romero is also a fighter for mitigating climate change, that Kevin’s vote and ideas are not really needed. I happen to want my elected representative to be a leader for making Tucson a more livable place.

Ward 3 Candidate Kevin Dahl Files Nominating Petitions, Application for City Matching Funds

Democrat Kevin Dahl filed his nominating petitions on Tuesday for the open seat in northside Tucson's Ward 3. “We hit the ground running with strong support from friends, neighbors, and Tucson’s environmental leaders," said Dahl, a resident of Ward's Samos neighborhood near Campbell and Grant for more than three decades. "Our message of addressing climate change, with its record-breaking heat and drought, has really resonated with Tucson voters."

Kevin Dahl Files To Run for Tucson City Council in Ward 3

With Ward 3 Councilman Paul Durham resigning as of March 1 and not seeking reelection, two candidates are emerging to run for the north-central seat later this year—if there is an election this year. (More on that uncertainty later.) Kevin Dahl, the senior program manager for the National Parks Conservation...
