Kenny Guiton always knew coaching to be his future

New Arkansas wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton always knew that one day he would be a football coach, but he never expected to be coaching at this level. His first interaction with Arkansas came back in 2011 when the Razorbacks faced off against Ohio State when Guiton was a second-year quarterback for the Buckeyes. News of Guiton's hire came on Jan. 5, just hours after it leaked that Justin Stepp would not be returning with the program.

It's good to feel wanted. When it became clear that former Arkansas wide receivers coach Justin Stepp would be returning home to South Carolina, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said offensive coordinator Kendal Briles metaphorically jumped on the table in favor of hiring Colorado State assistant Kenny Guiton. Guiton coached alongside Briles in 2018 when the two were at Houston together. Guiton is one of four new Razorback assistant coaches who were officially introduced on Thursday.

Arkansas in Mix For Four-Star WR Matthew Golden, Impressed With Kenny Guiton

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas is among the schools already offering Klein (Texas) Cain Class of 2022 four-star wide receiver Matthew Golden a scholarship. Golden has earned 11 offers so far with many more certain to come. He helped lead Cain to an 8-3 record and 5-1 second-place finish in the district. Golden rushed eight times for 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns while catching 43 passes for 1,027 yards and seven touchdowns with a long of 85 yards. He also averaged 15.2 yards on 13 kickoff returns and 10.7 on three punt returns. In addition, he averaged 40.2 yards on 18 punts with a long of 68 and one inside the 20.
