Broadway star Kelli O'Hara is ready to finally play Lied Center

Kelli O’Hara spent part of Wednesday morning selecting songs that she’ll be singing at the Lied Center for Performing Arts on Saturday. “My music director just left,” O’Hara said from New York. “We’ve put a few songs together that I really wanted to see in the show. Mostly, I’ve been doing things that have come to mean something to me over that last year."

GREENSBORO — UNCG will bring actors, musicians, a writer and a dance troupe to campus for the 2021-22 season of the UNCG Concert and Lecture Series starting in September. Margaret Atwood, Geena Davis and Kelli O’Hara headline the upcoming season of the university’s long-running cultural series. All six speakers and performers for the new season had been scheduled to visit UNCG in 2020-21 until the university canceled all of the concerts and lectures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kelli O’Hara, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Patti Murin, Colin Donnell, Denée Benton, Rubén J. Carbajal, Matt Doyle, Max Clayton, Daniel Yearwood, T. Oliver Reid and Josh Davis star in Breathe. This new musical, written by bestselling novelist Jodi Picoult and playwright Timothy Allen McDonald, chronicles COVID-19's impact on five very different relationships. The story is told in five interlocking suites, each with a different songwriting team and director. Broadway Records will release an original cast recording of the show on May 14, the same day Breathe will have its world premiere on Overture+ at 8PM ET. Under the supervising direction of Jeff Calhoun, Breathe was filmed last month at the 92 Street Y’s Kaufmann Concert Hall in New York City without an audience, in compliance with state safety regulations. Berkshire Theatre Group in Massachusetts has announced an exciting lineup of in-person productions and concerts for this summer. In addition to concerts by Kelli O’Hara and Norm Lewis, the theater will present productions of Earnest directed by David Auburn, The Wizard of Oz and Christina Ham’s Nina Simone: Four Women, starring Valisia LeKae. BTG will again adhere closely to COVID-19 safety guidelines and work with health and safety officials to keep patrons as safe as possible. Tickets are now available.
