Live Review: Keiynan Lonsdale

Material: In his first U.S. performance, Keiynan Londsale delivered an exhilarating hour of nonstop energetic artistry, complete with fantastic showmanship and full dance choreography. His music encompasses elements of pop, dance, R&B and beachy reggaeton, and Lonsdale’s set included songs from his 2020 debut, Rainbow Boy, his latest single, “Gods of the Disco” as well as a cover of Craig David’s “Rendezvous.” From the dramatic cymbal flourish intro on to each seamlessly transitioned song, Lonsdale and his crew unveiled an intense production with strong vocals.

As if the lack of romantic comedies isn’t distressing enough, the few we get have a tendency to be overwhelmingly straight. Even when they aren’t, they often throw their queer characters into the background, with squint-and-you-miss-it storylines. But every now and again, studios take a step in the right direction and give the people what they want. Today, there happens to be two of them: teaming up for another production, Buzzfeed and Lionsgate are co-producing the LGBTQ+ teen rom-com, My Fake Boyfriend.

Starz’s Step Up Series Adds Rebbi Rosie, Keiynan Lonsdale and More!

Starz announced today that Rebbi Rosie, whose credits include dancing with the likes of Beyonce, Pharrell, J. Lo and Nicki Minaj, has joined its re-imagined Step Up series along with new series regular cast members Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash, Love, Simon) and STARZ’s Power alum Enrique Murciano (Bloodline, Black Hawk Down). Additionally, returning favorite Terayle Hill (Cobra Kai, Judas and the Black Messiah) has been upped to series regular.
