Rangers' Keith Kinkaid: Dealing with upper-body injury

Kinkaid has an upper-body injury, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports Tuesday. Kinkaid was unlikely to see any game action in the first place with Igor Shesterkin expected to play most, if not all, of the Rangers' playoff games. With Kinkaid's status in doubt, the Rangers recalled Adam Huska from the minors to bolster their goaltending depth.

Igor Shesterkin in Covid protocol; Keith Kinkaid recalled

Igor Shesterkin is in Covid protocol, and Keith Kinkaid has been recalled. Alex Georgiev will likely get all of the starts while Shesterkin is in Covid protocol. Kinkaid will be the backup as well. On the bright side, at least Georgiev has looked solid for a while now.

Rangers' Keith Kinkaid: Assigned to taxi squad

Kinkaid joined the taxi squad Saturday. Kinkaid recorded a victory in his lone NHL start by recording a save percentage of .935 and saving 29 of the total 31 shots on goal. With Alexander Georgiev returning to play, the 32-year-old was left as the odd man out. Should another misfortunate event plight the Rangers' goalies, he will be first in line to see another opportunity in the big leagues.

Rangers recall Keith Kinkaid

The Rangers have recalled goalie Keith Kinkaid from the AHL. This was inevitable, given the Alex Georgiev COVID issue. What is interesting is that there was no defenseman recalled with Kinkaid. Ryan Lindgren and Patrik Nemeth are still in COVID protocol. Nemeth may come off before Wednesday’s game, but there is no news of that. Either the Rangers are waiting to see if he can come off before recalling a defenseman, or they are really going to run Tinordi-Hajek on Wednesday.

Rangers' Keith Kinkaid: Sent to bus league

Kinkaid was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Saturday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. Igor Shesterkin (lower body) was activated off injured reserve in a corresponding move, so the Rangers are no longer in need of Kinkaid's services in goal. Kinkaid will likely remain in the minors as long as Shesterkin and Alexandar Georgiev remain healthy.

Rangers' Keith Kinkaid: Wins in season debut

Kinkaid stopped 29 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Coyotes. The Rangers didn't have a lead until 17:42 of the third period, but Kinkaid was solid in net to keep them within range for much of the contest. The 32-year-old isn't likely to be on the big club's roster for long, as Igor Shesterkin (lower body) is expected to be close to a return. Even if Shesterkin can't return before the holiday break, Kinkaid is unlikely to start again, as the Rangers have just two games left before the hiatus.

2021 NY Rangers Player Report Card: Keith Kinkaid

Nine games usually isn’t enough to warrant a full report card, but for Keith Kinkaid, his 9 games represented 16% of the season, and that does warrant a report card. Kinkaid was signed as the third string goalie and, let’s be frank, expansion draft fodder. There’s nothing wrong with that, but keeping expectations within reason was key for Kinkaid. He likely wasn’t going to get as many games as he did, but injuries forced him into a more regular role.
