Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 launches in 2022, gets update trailer from Keiji Inafune

Amid the deluge of largely Japanese gaming news at New Game+ Expo today, Inti Creates provided a new trailer for Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 on Nintendo Switch, in addition to a development update message from action supervisor / executive producer / Comcept CEO Keiji Inafune. Inafune, who is also the creator of Mighty No. 9 (don’t laugh!) and former producer of the Mega Man franchise for Capcom, was revealed as an action supervisor for the game when it was first announced. He is working on the game with Inti Creates series director Yoshihisa Tsuda and, newly announced today, additional action director Hiroki Miyazawa, the Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon series director. Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 will launch in 2022.

Famicom documentary translated into English, includes Hideo Kojima, Keiji Inafune, and more

We’ve covered Shmuplations many times before, but for the uninitiated — it’s easily one of the best sources on the whole internet for translated interviews about video game development. Most recently, translator Alex Highsmith has translated an entire 26-minute Japanese documentary from 2003 about the history of the Famicom (the Japanese name for NES), and it includes interviews with Hideo Kojima, Keiji Inafune, Koichi Nakamura, Toshihiro Nagoshi, Yoshiki Okamoto, Takahashi Meijin, and Tetsuya Mizuguchi. It’s a pretty entertaining and insightful watch even if you’re already familiar with the console’s success, since this is a strictly Japanese viewpoint on the rise of Nintendo and Famicom.
