Sporting Kansas City announced earlier this month the signing of19-year-old center back Kaveh Rad as a Homegrown Player. Rad, whose twin brother Jahon plays for Sporting KC II, has become the 16th Homegrown Player to emerge from the Sporting Kansas City Academy. Making his customary appearance on Sports Radio 810 WHB this morning, Sporting Kansas City defender Graham Zusi saved some praise for newly signed Academy product Kaveh Rad. The 19-year-old Rad, whose twin brother plays for Sporting KC II, started three of Sporting’s four preseason matches in Arizona and impressed Manager Peter Vermes enough to land an MLS contract this week. He becomes the 11th player on Sporting’s current roster to hail from the Sporting KC Academy.
