You don’t have to be ripped and/or jacked to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it sure helps. Ever since Andy Dwyer stopped drinking “too much” beer to play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, Kumail Nanjiani, Chris Hemsworth, and, earlier this week, Brie Larson have all documented their “superhuman strength” on social media.
Filming for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is now underway, and details surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster are still largely under wraps. We do have a bit of a hint of what the film's ensemble will entail, including the fact that Freaky and Pokemon: Detective Pikachu star Kathryn Newton will be playing an older version of Cassie Lang. Newton recently took to Instagram to seemingly tease her work preparing for the film, showing two workout photos that are captioned "honestly why I haven't been posting."
Most of us assumed Cassie Lang would be a part of the third Ant-Man movie when the character was aged-up after "The Blip" in Avengers: Endgame, but it did come as a bit of a surprise when Kevin Feige announced that Emma Fuhrmann would be replaced in the role by Freaky star Kathryn Newton during Disney's Investors Day last year.
On this week's Empire Podcast, it's finally time to get freaky as Christopher Landon's excellent body-swap slasher movie, Freaky, hits UK cinemas. And what better way to celebrate than by listening to Chris Hewitt's chat with that movie's stars, Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton, in which they come up with other horror movie mash-ups? Annie Halloween, anyone?
Nine months after Christopher Landon's Freaky — the body-swap slasher film starring Kathryn Newton and Vince Vaughn — arrived in theaters here in the US, the film is finally making its debut across the pond in the UK. Because of the long-awaited premiere overseas, the cast is once again making the rounds and talking about their experience shooting the acclaimed horror comedy. Newton, who is also set to star in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, has been diving back in to the challenges of playing a serial killer for Landon's latest.
Kathryn Newton will soon be joining the MCU in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but before that, you can see her get bloody in body-swap horror Freaky. The movie is finally coming out in UK cinemas this Friday (July 2) and sees Newton play Millie who's just trying to survive high school when she unwittingly becomes the next target of serial killer The Butcher (Vince Vaughn).
SAN FRANCISCO – Celebrity sightings are common in California. But when the U.S. Women’s Open is staged in the Golden State, the stars are usually inside the ropes, not outside. Saturday, standing along the rope line at the first tee at The Olympic Club was actress Kathryn Newton. Known for...
Back in December, it was announced that Kathryn Newton would be taking over as the new Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The role was originally played by Abby Ryder Fortson in the first two Ant-Man movies and then played by Emma Fuhrmann in Avengers: Endgame once the character was aged up by five years. It's unclear why Marvel Studios opted not to stick with Fuhrmann, but Newton does have some star power having starred in Detective Pikachu, Big Little Lies, Freaky, and more. It appears the Ant-Man family is excited to welcome Newton into the mix. In fact, Evangeline Lilly took to Instagram yesterday to reveal they recently had a phone chat.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Star Evangeline Lilly Praises New Cassie Lang Actress Kathryn Newton
Detective Pikachu star Kathryn Newton takes over the role of Scott Lang's daughter, Cassie, in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. This was made official during Disney's Investor Day last year, and it seems Marvel Studios wanted a bigger star than relative newcomer Emma Fuhrmann (who played the character in Avengers: Endgame).

During Disney's Investor Day presentation back in December, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the third Ant-Man film is officially on the way, titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but that wasn't the only Ant-Man news. It was also announced that Freaky star Kathryn Newton would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Cassie Lang, taking over the role from Emma Fuhrmann. For Newton, the opportunity isn't just an exciting one, it's a dream come true as being part of the MCU is something she's wanted for a long time.
In the span of five days, Kathryn Newton celebrated a birthday, released her coming-of-age time-loop movie, The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, and just so happened to golf with the godfather of time-loop movies, Bill Murray. In Ian Samuels’ take on the Groundhog Day concept, Newton plays Margaret, an aloof teenage girl who’s content with remaining in a time loop until she meets Mark (Kyle Allen), who’s also stuck in the same endless cycle. When Allen found out that Newton was going to be playing golf with Murray at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, he urged her to mention their movie to him, something Newton resisted at first. Luckily, she received an assist from one of golf’s most decorated players.
Kathryn Newton still hasn't told her parents about her role in Marvel's 'Ant-Man' franchise. The 24-year-old actress has been cast as Cassie Lang in Peyton Reed’s upcoming 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' but admitted she hasn't directly told her parents, as she doesn't want to get in trouble if they share details with others.
