Katheryn Winnick found it 'very challenging' to film The Dark Tower because of 'budget issues'

Katheryn Winnick found it "very challenging" to work on 'The Dark Tower.'. The 44-year-old actress starred alongside Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the 2017 adaptation of the Stephen King novel series and claimed that while working with A-Listers should have made the project - which was filmed in South Africa - a "slam dunk", shooting was marred with financial setbacks and "crew issues."

Katheryn Winnick Looks Back on 'The Dark Tower' and the Challenges of Making the Film

Having all the right pieces and players doesn’t always guarantee a winning finished product and, unfortunately, that was the case with the 2017 adaptation of The Dark Tower. The film was based on hugely popular Stephen King source material and had Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey serving as headliners, but it still wound up with a rock bottom 15% on Rotten Tomatoes and only managed to take in $50.7 million at the domestic box office.
