Airports were just getting through the passenger drought — then came a water drought.

First, airports had to deal with a drought of passengers due to the pandemic. Now, airports in many parts of the West are facing a summer plagued by water shortages. In California at least, where the U.S. Drought Monitor reports that almost 95 percent of the state is experiencing severe to exceptional drought conditions, airports say years of conservation efforts make them well prepared.
