Reds place Mike Moustakas on 60-day IL, call up Josh Osich

The Cincinnati Reds have placed infielder Mike Moustakas on the 60-day injured list. He had been on the 10-day injured list with a foot injury and after going on a rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Triple-A Louisville Bats he left after his third at-bat, a single, and returned to Cincinnati after he felt soreness in his foot. He was examined by the team doctors and it would seem that whatever they saw wasn’t as good as everyone had hoped as he was placed on the 60-day injured list which will mean he won’t be returning for at least the next month.

Reds' Josh Osich: Reassigned to minors

Osich was reassigned to minor-league camp Saturday. Osich displayed improved velocity during spring training and posted a 5.63 ERA and 14:5 K:BB in eight innings across eight Cactus League appearances. Osich is in the Reds spring training camp on a non-roster invite. That he's left-handed works in his favor - only Amir...

Reds' Josh Osich: Joins Reds as non-roster invitee

Osich signed a minor-league contract with the Reds on Monday. The deal includes an invitation to big-league camp. The veteran lefty threw 18.1 innings for the Red Sox and Cubs last season, struggling to a 6.38 ERA. However, his 27.9 percent strikeout rate, 5.8 percent walk rate and 54.5 percent groundball rate were all solidly better than league average, so he has the potential to be a capable relief option this season.
