Josh Morrissey

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Fills stat sheet

Morrissey scored a goal on two shots, supplied an assist, logged four hits and blocked four shots in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Oilers in Game 3. Morrissey was crucial to the Jets' third-period rally -- he set up Blake Wheeler's tally to get within a goal before netting the equalizer only 16 seconds later. The 26-year-old blueliner has made his presence felt with 14 hits through three playoff contests. In the regular season, Morrissey had 21 points, 86 blocked shots, 78 hits and 25 PIM in 56 games. He'll continue to see big minutes as a member of the Jets' top four on the blue line.

What happened to Josh Morrissey?

Josh Morrissey is struggling. He has been struggling for over a year now and nothing has been done about it. The fall of Josh Morrissey started with two or three important events: the departure of Toby Enstrom, the trading of Jacob Trouba, and the retirement of Dustin Byfuglien. Those three departures most likely helped contribute to Morrissey falling off the cliff in terms of play, but it has to be more than three players leaving to turn Morrissey into a ghost of the player he was when he entered the league. How did this happen?

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Tickles twine in third

Morrissey scored a goal on a game-high nine shots in Monday's 2-1 loss to Ottawa. He also contributed four blocks, two PIM and two hits. Just a monster statistical performance by the 26-year-old rearguard, who established a new career high for shots on goal and tied the game midway through the third when he powered one through Ottawa netminder Filip Gustavsson. Morrissey, who had just two assists in his previous eight games coming into the night, has 21 points on the year.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Opens scoring early

Morrissey scored a goal on two shots Thursday in a 4-2 win over Montreal. He also produced three blocks and two hits. Morrissey joined a 3-on-1 rush as the trailer and wired a shot off the post and in to open the scoring just 18 seconds into the game. The 25-year-old has lit the lamp twice in his last three games after scoring just once in his first 36. Morrissey had back-to-back 31-point campaigns coming into 2020-21 and, if available, is a viable waiver-wire add for fantasy managers in need of some punch from the blue line.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Picks up only goal in loss

Morrissey scored a power-play goal on his only shot in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Toronto. Morrissey stepped into a slap shot from the point with 2:45 left in the second period to finally get the Jets on the board. It was just the second goal of the year for Morrissey, and his first since March 9, snapping an 11-game drought. The 25-year-old has 17 points in 37 games.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Stays productive with helper

Morrissey notched an assist, two shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Monday's 4-0 win over the Canucks. Morrissey has collected six helpers in his last six outings. The 25-year-old defenseman is up to 16 points, 68 shots on net, 48 blocked shots, 39 hits and a minus-1 rating in 32 contests. Morrissey will likely continue to see top-pairing usage, which should keep him in the fantasy conversation.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Hands out assist

Morrissey produced an assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers. Morrissey was initially credited with a goal on the play, but when the scoring was made official, he had the secondary helper on Pierre-Luc Dubois' first-period marker. The 25-year-old Morrissey has collected a goal and five helpers in his last seven outings. He's up to 15 points, 66 shots on net, 46 blocked shots and 39 hits in 31 games. Fantasy managers who used a late-round pick to draft him are starting to gain some benefit from his performance.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Dishes two power-play helpers

Morrissey recorded a pair of power-play assists, five shots on goal and two blocked shots in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Canadiens. Morrissey set up both of Kyle Connor's goals in the contest. In his last four games, Morrissey has a goal and three helpers -- a drastic change from the eight-game point drought that preceded his recent surge. For the year, the blueliner has 13 points (seven on the power play), 59 shots on net, 45 blocks and 36 hits through 28 appearances.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Busy night leads to big win

Morrissey registered a power-play assist to complement three hits and three blocked shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over Maple leafs. Winnipeg's top-pairing left defenseman flung four shots on goal to round out his strong effort on the road, and while he was unable to light the lamp, Morrissey still made a ton of noise in the contest. He's averaging 3:10 of ice time with the man advantage, which is far and away a career-high mark.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Notches pair of assists

Morrissey had two assists and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers. Morrissey assisted on both of the Jets' goals, scored by Mark Scheifele on the power play in the first period and Neal Pionk in a 4-on-4 situation in the third. The 25-year-old Morrissey is still in search of his first tally this season, but he has nine helpers, 28 shots on net, 21 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating through 16 contests.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Garners helper Monday

Morrissey produced an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 6-5 win over the Oilers. Morrissey provided the primary helper on Blake Wheeler's game-winning tally in the third period. The 25-year-old Morrissey is up to seven assists, 25 shots on net, 21 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating in 15 appearances. He saw less power-play time (1:17) than Neal Pionk (2:24) on Monday -- should Morrissey lose first-unit duties, his fantasy appeal will drop, especially since he hasn't taken much of a step forward in 2020-21.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Helps out on power play

Morrissey notched a power-play assist and two blocked shots in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Flames. Morrissey set up the second of Kyle Connor's two first-period tallies. Through nine games this year, Morrissey has four assists -- two of which have come with the man advantage. The blueliner has added 12 shots on goal, 10 blocks and a minus-2 rating. His role on the top pairing is fairly safe, but Neal Pionk lingers on the second power-play unit and he could move to the first unit should Morrissey suffer through an extended dry spell.

Jets' Josh Morrissey: Grabs power-play helper

Morrissey registered a power-play assist, three shots on goal and three blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Oilers. Morrissey made two big blocks during an Oilers power play in the first period, but he didn't miss any time. He later added the secondary helper on Blake Wheeler's third-period tally. The solid performance gave Morrissey three helpers, 11 shots on goal, eight blocks and a plus-3 rating through six contests. Given his top-pairing usage and a role on the first power-play unit, fantasy managers should expect a bit more offense from the 25-year-old blueliner.
