Media Day: Everything Josh Heupel said before Vols open training camp

Everything Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said during his press conference on Sunday afternoon, ahead of the Vols starting training camp on Monday morning:. “Good afternoon everybody. It’s football time in Tennessee. Can’t wait to get on the grass with our guys tomorrow. Really excited about the strides that our players have made since the beginning of the offseason. You guys have been around here a bunch through the first quarter of our offseason strength and conditioning, the buildup into spring ball, the strides that we made, the newcomers that we got here in January. Josh Heupel gives update on Bru McCoy following first practice with team

Josh Heupel has been relentless in adding offensive talent to his roster. Joe Milton has chosen a path not many would these days in college athletics. After opening as the starting quarterback for Tennessee last season, injuries and struggles earned him a spot on the sidelines behind Hendon Hooker. Not only will freshman Cameron Miller have to adjust to the increased speed and physicality of college football in 2022, but he’ll also have to learn to play a new position. Coach Josh Heupel explained at the conclusion of practice that the team had the thought before Miller even arrived in Knoxville, and made the decision after watching him in the spring.

How Josh Heupel could break the mold if Tennessee football wins big in his second season

Josh Heupel’s first season at Tennessee went well, and projections say his second could be even better.  It’s a fair assumption. The Vols start preseason practice Monday with 14 of 22 starters returning — including the bulk of their record-breaking offense — from a 7-6 team that hit its stride in the second half of last season. ...

Tennessee football: Josh Heupel, Vols 'feel good' about USC transfer WR Bru McCoy's eligibility status

Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said Sunday during the Volunteers' local media day that he and the program "feel good" about the eligibility status of USC transfer wide receiver Bru McCoy ahead of the 2022 season. McCoy, a former five-star recruit in the 2019 class out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, had previously transferred from Texas to USC and thus is not eligible for the basic NCAA one-time transfer exception, although he could receive a different waiver in order to play immediately.
