The “Hometown Heroes” parade, to honor New York City’s front line workers, will be held on July 7. The Brooklyn Nets championship parade? If the Fragile 3 (Snap, Crackle and Pop) don’t get their act together, there may not be one. “I don’t think there’s any getting used to fricking...

New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays: Jordan Montgomery vs. Hyun Jin Ryu

Ninety-nine times out of one hundred, recapping a game is one of the highlights of my week. For a few hours, I put aside all my day-to-day worries, and focus entirely on Yankees baseball. Every once in a while, however, there’s a game that is such a clanker, where the Yankees are never even within shouting-with-a-megaphone distance, that the entire three-plus hour experience is nothing short of miserable.

New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins: Jordan Montgomery vs. Michael Pineda

It gets late early out there. The Yankees are 6.5 games back of the Red Sox for first place in the AL East, with both the Jays and Rays ahead of them. Further setbacks this season could take them out of the division race, so they’ve gotta start putting wins on the board now, and can do so tonight against a disappointing Twins team.

Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Allows three runs in no-decision

Montgomery hurled 5.2 innings against Minnesota on Tuesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision. The southpaw allowed two first-inning runs but kept the Twins off the scoreboard over the next four frames. His team staked him to a one-run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, but Montgomery yielded a two-out single followed by a game-tying double to lose the chance for a win. Nonetheless, it was a positive outing overall, as Montgomery finished with his fourth straight start of three or fewer runs. He'll carry a 3.99 ERA and 65:15 K:BB into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday at Toronto.

Montgomery held the Rays in check throughout his start, which was highlighted by eight groundball outs to supplement his six strikeouts. He allowed only one extra-base hit to limit the potential damage against him, though he was let down by his defense on a couple of occasions.
