Miranda Lambert, Jack Ingram, and Jon Randall’s breakup song, “Ghost,” turned one year old recently, and “The Marfa Tapes” collaborators celebrated by treating fans to a live acoustic version of the song. The recordings are similar, in that “Ghost” on the album is also a stripped-down, raw version. But, here, with the addition of the recorded video of the performance, we get to see the emotions play out.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jon Randall “Randy” Shields on March 26, 2022, at the age of 76, from complications of heart surgery. Jon was born Nov. 9, 1945, in Tooele, Utah, to Alvin S. Shields and Mignon Mitchell Shields Hayes. Jon had two siblings Dolly Shields Taylor and Lana A. Shields.

Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall + Jack Ingram preview ‘The Marfa Tapes’ documentary

Miranda Lambert, Jon Randall and Jack Ingram are taking fans inside the making of their Grammy-nominated album, The Marfa Tapes, with an upcoming documentary film. The movie, which has the same name as the album, will add a visual element to the Texas trio’s raw, acoustic project, which they recorded while on a songwriting and music-making trip to Marfa, Texas. The project captures the live energy of the songs, as well as the ambient noises of planes overhead, cows in a neighboring pasture and coyotes howling in the distance.
