Monday, June 20, 2022 @ 2 p.m. John Ray Cooper, 68, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Regional Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born in Cincinnati on April 23, 1954 to Matthew Thomas Cooper Jr. and Betty Carrier Cooper. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an independent contractor for the United States Postal Service. He attended Post Oak Baptist Church and was a member of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.

Goss, John Ray

On Sunday, August 1, 2021, John Ray Goss, loving husband and father of four, passed away peacefully at the full age of 98. John was born in Winona on May 30, 1923, to Homer and Cora (Sebo) Goss. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from UCLA. While a Marine stationed in Hawaii during WWII, he met the amazing Patty Lou Dunn, and they married on August 10, 1947, in Westwood, Calif. Together they raised four children, John Randall, Tricia (Goss) Holden, William and Nancy (Goss) Ugarte. John was most proud of his wife, his children, and his accomplishments in the UC Davis Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department. His career there included teaching, research projects and serving in administration, including as chairman of the Agricultural Engineering Department. In his retirement years he loved to chat with his siblings, fish with his dear friends, plant a yearly garden, travel the world with his wife, attend concerts at the Mondavi Center on campus and travel to see his kids & grand kids.
