Renovations to John R. Dover Library Meet Needs of Gardner-Webb Students

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—Since December 2021, the Facilities and Maintenance staff has worked to significantly transform the third floor of Gardner-Webb University’s John R. Dover Library. The floor recently opened to the delight and surprise of students. “They do love the space,” observed Dean of the Library Pam Dennis. “The looks on their faces when they get to the top of the steps is priceless!”

Peterson, Dr. John R.

Dr. John R. Peterson, “Doc Pete,” 90, of Rushford, made his final rounds on Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Doc touched the lives of many during his 62 years in Rushford as a physician, farmer, sports enthusiast, school board member, golf partner, and supporter of the community he loved.

SNEATHEN, JOHN R.

John R. Sneathen, 62, of Green Creek, NJ left this world for his heavenly home January 23, 2022. John with the big blue eyes never wanted attention on himself but was always ready to help those who needed him. He was employed by Coastal Landscaping as a mechanic where he was known as “McGuyver” for his ability to fix just about anything. At home he spent time tinkering with a 1950’s tractor that was always challenging him. John had an extraordinary gentle kindness towards animals, especially his beloved chihuahua Lassie. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Marion Sneathen and sister Harriet.John is survived by his siblings: Claude, Billy, Lottie, Dixie, LeRoy, Fred, and Melissa; and many nieces and nephews – a big family that he adored. He will also be missed by his longtime companion Sadie Rementer.A celebration of life will be held in the springtime of 2022. Condolences at www.radzieta.com.

John “JR” Robert Hart, 80, of Kirkwood, IL, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. John was born May 18, 1940, in Burlington, IA, the son of Cletus Vetal and Eyloe Virginia (Matzka) Hart. He was raised and educated in Kirkwood, graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1958.
