Milwaukee’s very own irrepressible John McGivern will delight us with his homespun stories about growing up in Wisconsin and his many Wisconsin adventures through the years. John is best known for his Emmy-award winning work on PBS including the series Around the Corner with John McGivern. His new series, John McGivern’s Main Streets, debuted in January 2022 and can be watched locally on FOX 6 in Milwaukee. His one-man shows, The Early Stories of John McGivern, Midsummer Night McGivern, and John McGivern’s Home for the Holidays tell the stories of being the third born of six kids in a working-class Irish Catholic Family in the Midwest. His stories are personal and funny and touching and familiar. His themes are based in family and remind us all that as specific as we might believe our experiences are, we all share a universal human experience. He tells his stories and through his voice we learn that they are our stories as well.

John McGivern's "Holiday Tales" comes to Beaver Dam on Saturday

It’s been more than two years since storyteller John McGivern roamed the streets of Beaver Dam, and Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre is ready to welcome him back. McGivern, former host of PBS Wisconsin’s program, “Around the Corner,” visited Beaver Dam in the fall of 2019 to film an episode featuring the city. Former Common Council Member Dan Doyle and Mayor Becky Glewen drove the producers around town and suggested things that might be highlighted. Producers contacted area businesses and individuals to arrange interviews and recording times.

What You Need to Know About John McGivern’s Return to TV

John McGivern is back! His new show, “John McGivern’s Main Streets” will debut on Jan. 30 across the Midwest, including on FOX 6 in Milwaukee. The comedian and regional travel show host will be hitting six states and 13 cities. Each half-hour episode will explore main streets in the Upper Midwest, including stops in Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. Plum Media, a Milwaukee company, is producing the series for distribution.
