Joe Lorig trying to change the perception of Oregon Ducks' special teams unit

The past few seasons, the Oregon Ducks haven't been known for their special teams unit. Joe Lorig is attempting to change that this spring. Lorig was hired to be Oregon's special teams coach in January shortly after Dan Lanning took over as coach. During the media availability portion of practice, a number of Ducks were seen working on special teams drills, including punt and kickoff returns.

To turn around Oregon's special teams, Joe Lorig had to get the Ducks to buy-in on his methods

When you walk into an Oregon football practice, one of the first items of the day for the Ducks is always special teams. Different drills nearly every day, but the same level of focus. The mission is to turn around a unit that has underperformed the last few seasons. For Special Teams Coordinator Joe Lorig, his mission and goal this spring has been to turn the Ducks into a more efficient, productive, and talented unit. To do that, he's had to start from the ground floor and build a foundation.
