"We're holding strong" - State Rep. Joe Deshotel on Texas Democrats in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — KFDM/Fox 4 News spoke with State Representative Joe Deshotel about Governor Greg Abbott's call for another special session beginning Saturday at noon. Deshotel, a longtime Democratic lawmaker who represents District 22, including Beaumont and Port Arthur, is among dozens of Texas Democrats who left Austin for Washington, D.C. to prevent an election bill from passing in the first session. They call the bill a form of voter suppression while Republicans and Governor Abbott maintain it's about ensuring election integrity.

Rep. Joe Deshotel calls on ExxonMobil CEO to end lockout

Rep. Joe Deshotel (D-Beaumont) has written a letter calling on ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods to end the lockout and return to the negotiation table with the union. The letter, released on Friday and provided to the Enterprise, is the first public response from a state legislator representing the Beaumont area in support of ExxonMobil workers that have been locked out of the work place since May 1.
