Jimmy Dykes: What went wrong and where Calipari, Kentucky go from here

It's been a year of ups and (mostly) downs for Kentucky this season. After opening the season with an impressive 81-45 win over Morehead State, the Wildcats proceeded to lose six in a row, getting off to its worst start in nearly 100 years. UK then won three straight to open SEC play, culminating with a 76-58 win at Florida before dropping three straight. Another double-digit home win over LSU provided a momentary gasp of hope before four consecutive losses came down the pike. Kentucky sprang back to life for another 3-game win streak, including a 70-55 win at No. 19 Tennessee, its first win over a ranked opponent in perhaps its most complete performance of the year. True to form, UK has now lost back-to-back games to fall to 8-15 on the season and 7-9 in the SEC heading into Saturday's regular season finale vs. South Carolina.

Jimmy Dykes anticipates UK will bring in “seven- or eight-man class” in 2021: “There will be changes made to that roster”

Kentucky has grown accustomed to ridiculous roster turnover and brand new teams every year throughout the John Calipari era in Lexington, but that turnover reached new heights last offseason when the program lost 94 percent of its scoring, 98.6 percent of its assists and 92.4 percent of its minutes from the year before. When you factor in UK’s mass exodus from last season, along with wildly underwhelming play from the newcomers, the team’s 2020-21 campaign has been a disaster from start to finish.
