Los Angeles Dodgers free agent Jimmie Sherfy signed with the Gastonia Honey Hunters of the Atlantic League, the club announced. The Dodgers claimed Sherfy on July 13, 2021, and he ended up appearing in four games for L.A. before going on the injured list with elbow inflammation, which ended his season. With the Dodgers, Sherfy pitched 4.1 innings while allowing three runs.

In a rivalry re-defining season between the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, it only makes sense that a bullpen maverick like Jimmie Sherfy would come in and make history. Spitting in the face of sixty-plus years, Sherfy, through sheer guile or malice or discontent, became the first player to play for both Los Angeles and San Francisco in the same season.

Always looking to add depth to their organization, the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed Jimmie Sherfy off waivers from the San Francisco Giants this past July. The right-hander went 1-0 with a 4.22 ERA, 5.33 FIP and 1.22 WHIP in 10 appearances for the Giants before joining the Dodgers. He made his Dodgers debut against the Colorado Rockies on July 16 and tossed a scoreless inning.

There was a total of 39 if you include the two position players. One of those names I missed was Jimmie Sherfy who appeared in four games back in July. Sherfy had the distinction of being the only player to see action in 2021 with the 107-win Giants and 106-win Dodgers.
