In a venue reminiscent of an artist’s atelier, with plush curtains and replicas of ancient Greek statues scattered at the center, Lucie and Luke Meier explored a gentler kind of dressing based on their unique interpretation of tailoring and femininity. As Lunar New Year fast approaches, Jil Sander — joining brands like Gucci and Alexander McQueen — is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with a dedicated capsule collection. The range is comprised of six items in Luke and Lucie Meier‘s signature minimalist style. A blouson and sport coat arrive with black on the front panels, sleeves and collar, which are contrasted with an ivory shade on the back. We are now living in a post-Adrien Brody’s character on Succession wearing six layers of gear to go on a stroll society. Gorpcore—the trend of sporting technically-minded outdoor apparel as everyday wear, no campsites required—has made it to the big leagues. And it's not just on TV—now one of its leading brands is officially entering into the high-fashion fold.

Every piece of Jil Sander clothing is streamlined and expertly crafted, so it’s no surprise that the brand’s new Manhattan pop-up shop is the same. However, instead of the company’s signature neutrals, the retail space is swathed in a fluorescent yellow (our bets are on Babouche by Farrow & Ball), meant to unify each display. The everywhere shade is just one design idea we’re stealing from the store.

An energetic tension between opposites defined the overall concept behind Jil Sander’s spring 2022 collection, which marked the brand’s return to physical shows. The show was held in a sort of tunnel-like indoor space, long and narrow, that was covered with lilac carpeting and illuminated with a delicate light in the same palette. The vibe felt cocooning and relaxing.

Designed by Jil Sander’s co-creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier, the looks bring the German label’s distinctive minimalist aesthetic to Birkenstocks’ signature shoes. International fashion group OTB has announced that the acquisition of Jil Sander, announced on March 5, has been completed. The sale price remains confidential. Jil Sander joins Diesel, Maison Margiela, and Marni under the OTB (Only The Brave) Group, chaired and founded by Italian entrepreneur Renzo Rosso. This acquisition continues OTB's expansion as one of Italy’s leading luxury hubs.
