Canucks' Jason Dickinson: Working through undisclosed injury

Dickinson has been recovering from an undisclosed injury this offseason, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford told reporters Thursday, per Rick Dhaliwal of TSN 1040 Vancouver. Dickinson was less than impressive during the regular season with just 11 points in 62 contests. Still, the 27-year-old center has twice exceeded the...

Should the Canucks give Jason Dickinson one more shot to lead their bottom six?

One thing that no one seems to be talking about in Vancouver — but some probably should be — is centre depth. For the moment, the situation looks non-problematic. The Canucks have JT Miller, Elias Pettersson, and Bo Horvat down the middle, making for one of the strongest 1-2-3 pivot punches in the league. Even after the assumed trade of Miller later this off-season, that still leaves Pettersson and Horvat in the top-six as the designated 1C and 2C, both of whom are eminently qualified for the job.

Could the Canucks buyout Jason Dickinson?

Nearly a year ago, the Vancouver Canucks traded their 2021 third round pick to the Dallas Stars for Jason Dickinson. He was what they needed. A right-handed centre who was solid defensively and good on the penalty kill. A few weeks after the trade, Dickinson signed a three-year contract worth 2.6 million dollars per season after filing for arbitration.

Canucks' Jason Dickinson: Activated from IR

Dickinson (undisclosed) was activated from injured reserve Sunday. Dickinson's injury has cost him the last 16 games, but he's recovered now and will be available for Sunday's game against visiting Vegas. With six points in 49 games this year, though, his return to the lineup isn't likely to make much of a fantasy splash.

Canucks' Jason Dickinson: Not traveling with team

Dickinson (undisclosed) will not be with the team for its four-game road trip, David Quadrelli of Sportsnet650 reports. Dickinson has already been sidelined for the last 11 contests due to his undisclosed issue and will now be on the shelf for another four. Prior to his absence, the 26-year-old Ontario native was mired in a 17-game goal drought during which he managed just one assist. Even once cleared to play, Dickinson's lack of offensive upside will make him a low-end fantasy target.

The Canucks are facing a tough decision with struggling Jason Dickinson, but is there a trade market for him?

2021-22 hasn’t been a banner year for a number of Canucks, but maybe none are having as tough a season as Jason Dickinson. Dickinson’s arrival in Vancouver before the Seattle Expansion Draft and subsequent contract extension was, at the time, expected to turn into one of Jim Benning’s tidiest pieces of work. The Canucks had been in desperate need of a proper shutdown centre for years, and the Georgetown, Ontario native’s advanced stats in the defensive zone during six seasons in Dallas spoke for themselves.

Dickinson managed an assist and three hits in Monday's 3-1 win over the Blackhawks. Dickinson helped out on a Brock Boeser goal in the second period. The assist ended a nine-game point drought for Dickinson, and it likely helped that he was moved up to the top line at even strength. The 26-year-old remains more of a defensive forward with just six points to go with 78 hits, 49 shots on net and a minus-1 rating in 42 appearances this season.
