Toledo football coach Jason Candle hires two assistants

The University of Toledo football coaching staff is complete. Jason Candle has hired Pat Bastien to coach linebackers and Corey Parker to coach cornerbacks. Bastien is filling a vacancy created by former defensive line coach Larry Black’s move to Vanderbilt, and Parker is replacing cornerbacks coach Cornell Ford, who left the program after the Bahamas Bowl. Co-defensive coordinator Craig Kuligowski will coach the defensive line.

Report: Jason Candle to remain at Toledo, turning down offensive coordinator opportunity at Miami

According to Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade, Toledo head coach Jason Candle has turned down the opportunity to go to Miami as the offensive coordinator. Candle is believed to have extensive conversations with Mario Cristobal about the opportunity to be the play caller for the Hurricanes and he was believed to be Cristobal’s top choice for the position.

Miami still has not found its offensive coordinator under new coach Mario Cristobal, and that search will continue after Toledo coach Jason Candle turned down the Hurricanes according to a report from Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade. Candle, who has spent his entire coaching career in Ohio, has posted a record of 45-27 in six seasons as Toledo's head coach after serving as the Rockets' OC for four years prior.
