Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Scores season-high 14 points

Culver ended with 14 points (5-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-5 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal over 32 minutes during Sunday's 139-110 loss to the Celtics. Culver played 32 minutes and scored 14 points -- both season highs -- during his return from a three-game absence due to a knee injury. The 2019 lottery pick's increased production was largely due to Memphis resting the majority of its regular contributors, but the season-high performance is still something to build off of heading into the 2022-23 campaign. Culver finished his third NBA season (first with Memphis) averaging 3.5 points and 1.3 rebounds in 9.1 minutes across 37 appearances. He likely won't hold much of a role during the playoffs.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Listed as available

Culver (knee) has been cleared to play Sunday against the Celtics. The Grizzlies are preparing to rest most of their regulars, so this should be a rare opportunity for Culver to see extended minutes. A top-10 pick in 2019, Culver has appeared in only 36 games for Memphis this season, logging just 8.5 minutes per contest.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Probable Sunday

Culver (knee) is probable for Sunday's game against Boston. Culver has missed back-to-back games due to a sore right knee, but he's expected to return to the rotation Sunday. With Memphis resting the majority of its regulars, the third-year forward may garner an increased role during the regular-season finale.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Questionable with knee soreness

Culver is questionable for Thursday's game against the Nuggets due to right knee soreness. Culver only sees spot minutes with Memphis, so his absence wouldn't be too impactful. In theory, it could lead to more minutes for John Konchar, Ziaire Williams or Kyle Anderson.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Big minutes in return

Culver (COVID-19 health and safety protocols) produced 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds and three steals across 30 minutes in Monday's 118-104 win over the Nets. Culver typically hasn't been included in the rotation this season, but the Grizzlies turned to him for a bench-leading minutes total in his first game since Dec. 17 after he had missed the previous five games while in the protocols. Though Memphis went with an ultra-big starting five featuring Jaren Jackson and Killian Tillie at the forward spots and Steven Adams at center, Culver ended up absorbing most of the vacated playing time at small forward while Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks were both in the protocols. Expect Culver to hold down a rotation spot in the short term, but the 2019 lottery pick likely won't have a clear path to minutes beyond this week.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Enters COVID-19 protocols

Culver entered the league's health and safety protocols Thursday. Culver will be unavailable for Thursday's matchup against the Warriors, and it's possible that he's forced to miss more games. It's not yet clear whether he's tested positive for COVID-19, but De'Anthony Melton and Desmond Bane could see a slight uptick in playing time in his absence.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: Ends with productive line Thursday

Culver closed with 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 0-2 FT), four rebounds, six assists and two steals across 14 minutes during Thursday's 152-79 win over Oklahoma City. The fact culver was able to log 14 minutes of playing time highlights just how out of control this game was. The coaching staff was able to get the third unit onto the floor for an extended period, resulting in some wild and wacky boxscores. Culver is not an every-night part of the rotation and can obviously be ignored in basically every fantasy format.

Grizzlies' Jarrett Culver: 2022-23 team option declined

The Grizzlies will not exercise Culver's fourth-year option for the 2022-23 season, Chris Herrington of The Daily Memphian reports. The Grizzlies have already decided against having Culver's $8.1 million salary on the books next season, meaning the third-year player is now on an expiring contract. The 2019 sixth overall pick was dealt to the team over the summer and could see depth minutes on the wing. He appeared in four preseason games for Memphis and averaged 3.8 points on 27.3 percent shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 13.7 minutes. He is clearly in danger of being out of the league next season.

The Memphis Grizzlies will have a battle brewing deep on the depth chart during training camp between John Konchar and Jarrett Culver. While training camp is just getting started, depth charts are already circulating online of who will be backing up the starters on this year’s Memphis Grizzlies squad. A Look Back At the Jarrett Culver Experience

Jarrett Culver is gone. He was a divisive player among the Timberwolves faithful. Some felt that his flashes were representative of the player he could be — a lockdown defender who could handle the rock and create opportunities for his teammates. They wanted to see the Jarrett Culver from last year’s preseason who shot 57% from the 3-point line. Other fans had lost hope and thought that if the Wolves could dump him without giving up additional assets, that would be a win for the franchise.

The Long View: Expectations for Jarrett Culver and Sam Merrill, Killian Tillie’s new contract

Honestly, I totally expected this podcast to be a Summer League recap, and then boom! Trades!. The Memphis Grizzlies made two trades earlier this week, turning Eric Bledsoe into Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo, and Daniel Oturu — which resulted in Bledsoe (a Klutch client) getting to the Los Angeles.. crazy coincidence. Then they flipped Beverley to Minnesota for Jarrett Culver (6th pick in the 2019 draft) and Juan Hernangomez.
