He doesn’t exactly dominate the credits on Dream Theater albums, but singer James LaBrie has no problem finding enough material for his own career. On this, his fourth solo album (sixth if you include the two albums he recorded as Mullmuzzler), he delves into the complexities of human relationships, which can be hard to do without getting judgemental but he manages to avoid that… mostly. He also steers clear of the other 49 shades of grey.

Dream Theater singer James LaBrie has released new video for his latest single, the gentle ballad Am I Right, which you can watch below. It's taken from his upcoming solo album Beautiful Shade Of Grey, which is LaBrie's first solo release for nine years and will be available through InsideOut Music on May 20.

Just last month, Dream Theater performed in New York City and the band's former drummer Mike Portnoy had the unique first of seeing his onetime group play in person for the first time ever. One of the side benefits that came from that night was that Portnoy was able to clear the air with the group's singer James LaBrie, having already re-established friendships with his other bandmates that had strained after his 2010 exit. In a new chat with Sonic Perspectives (seen below and transcribed by Blabbermouth), LaBrie reflects on that meeting and his thoughts now after having reconnected with Portnoy.
