Obituary: James Donald Segers

Funeral services for James Donald Segers will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Wendell Peterson  and Josh Nation will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at Duck River Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Segers was born on Nov. 12, 1946, in Cullman, Alabama to the late Leamon and Vernie Lee (Glenn) Segers. He died at the age of 76 on Dec. 2, 2022, at his residence in Hanceville, Alabama. Mr. Segers retired with The United States Postal Service after serving a total of 40 years. He spent 18 years working in the city of Birmingham and 22 years in Cullman. Survivors include his wife, Sue Segers; children, David (Sonya) Segers, Brian (Nicole) Segers, Stacy (Jay) Arnold, Dana Ray (Stuart Gwin) and Kelly (Josh) Nation; grandchildren, Taylor (Justin), Chloe (Will), Dawson (Caidyn), Braden (Jacee), Haylie, Sophia, Henry, Riley, Anna, and Susanna; great grandchildren, Brynlee and soon to be Jettson; and a brother, Lee Segers Jr.

James Donald "Mort" Nolan

DELRAY BEACH, FL - James Donald "Mort" Nolan, 93, of Delray Beach, FL, passed away on November 2, 2022 at Vitas Hospice Care with his wife and stepdaughter by his side. Donald was born in Auburn, NY, the son of Peter and Alice (Burns) Nolan. He was a graduate of Holy Family High School, LeMoyne College and also attended Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Charles Lee Otting, age 69, of Summerville, GA, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, at his residence. Charles Lee Otting was born in Rome, GA on November 11, 1952, son of the late Clifton Armon Otting and the late Mary Frances Highfield “Honey” Otting. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Charles was proud to be a Sargent in the United States Marine Corps. He went on to be a diesel mechanic at Lend Lease. He then began driving trucks for Coosa Baking and then Golden Gallon. Charles loved driving trucks and seeing new places, riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He also loved animals and had a farm where he raised cattle, blue heelers, miniature horses, goats, pigs and chickens. Charles was very talented in fixing and building all thing, from motors to carpentry work.

UTICA – James Donald Poland passed away Feb. 16, 2022, at Knox Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1939, in Utica to the late Donald and Margaret (White) Poland. James attended Homer High School and retired from Rolls Royce. He was married 64 years to his high school sweetheart, Alyce Faye Hyatt. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting and attending gun shows and antique car shows.

James Donald "Jim" Willems

Jim Willems, 79, of Cashmere, WA, went home to be with Jesus, on November 12, 2021, at Central Washington Hospital. Jim was born to Isaac and Anna Willems in Reedley, CA, on February 5, 1942. He and his family moved to Whatcom County, WA, in 1948, where he spent the remainder of his childhood attending Mennonite Church, helping his parents and their neighbors with farm chores, and tending to livestock. Jim attended school in Custer, WA, and his ninth grade classmates were especially important to him; they reunited each summer throughout their lives. Jim graduated from Ferndale High School, in 1959, and moved to Seattle, WA, with his older brother, where he was employed as a messenger boy, later taking a job with Standard Oil (which later became Chevron Oil Company). Jim served in the United States Army from 1963–1969, after which he returned to his job at Chevron, and remained with them for the next 38 years. In 1971, Jim became the youngest manager in Chevron history, when he moved to the valley to take over management of the 5th Street Chevron Station, in Wenatchee, WA. Jim quickly became part of the Wenatchee community, joining the 20/30 Men’s Active Club and the Applarians.

James Donald “Don” Wimsatt, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born December 21, 1934 in Whitesville to the late William “Bill” and Margaret Ann Hamilton Wimsatt. Don was a member of St. Pius Tenth Catholic Church, where he had been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the cooking team, and was retired as a security guard with Green River Steel. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching U.K. basketball, Nascar, and professional baseball. Don was a U. S. Army veteran and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Wimsatt.
