Dr. James Daniel "Dan" Gray

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Dr. James Daniel “Dan” Gray age 83 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered rest Sunday, April 10, 2022. Mr. Gray was born in Randolph, Alabama, the son of the late James Smith Gray and the late Bernice Smitherman Gray, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson, former member of the Jefferson Rotary Club and a Volunteer with Helping Hands at Jefferson Elementary School. Mr. Gray served his country in the Army National Guard and was a Graduate of the University of Alabama and Georgia State University having received his PHD, Bachelors and, Masters Degrees, and enjoyed a successful career as an Educator, retiring as the Vice President of Dekalb Technical College. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray is preceded by his sister, Dot Nelems.

James Daniel “Danny” McGrew

James Daniel “Danny” McGrew, 68, of Brownsville passed away at 6:13 PMTuesday Jan. 11, 2022 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was a mechanic forvarious Gary Force dealerships. He was a son of the late James Murrell McGrew and Reva Brooks McGrew. Surviving are his wife, Ora Leigh Decker McGrew; two sons, Caleb McGrew and Jacob McGrew both of Bowling Green; a daughter, Kayla Plemmons of Roundhill; two sisters, Patricia Sowders (Timmy)and Mary McGrew both of Bee Spring; four grandchildren, Adonis, Althea, Athena and Apollo Plemmons; an uncle, Otis Brooks and his fur baby, Lennox Leigh McGrew. No public services are scheduled for Danny McGrew. GravilFuneral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bug, age 26, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 25, 2021. He was a resident of the Hungarian Settlement, LA. Bug enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and going camping, but his favorite was taking trips with his parents. He was always by his dad's side helping out and fixing things. Bug was always trying to help others and he was always trying to make friends. He was truly a one of a kind with a sweet soul who will be forever missed.

James Daniel “Dan” Owenby

James Daniel “Dan” Owenby, 98, of Seymour, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on May 7, 1923, to his parents, Isaac Marshall Owenby and Ellen Lawson Owenby. A Seymour native, he attended Harrison-Chilhowee Baptist Academy and Sevier County High School. Dan was working as an aircraft welder in Alliance, Ohio, when he was drafted at the age of 19. Dan served in the Unites States Army’s 13th Air Force, 5th Bombardment Group, 394th Bombardment Squadron during World War II.
