Jade Raymond Says Fans, Not Developers, Will Drive The Franchises Of The Future

Jade Raymond has seen the future, and the future is user-generated content. The former Stadia VP, who helped create hit franchises like Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs, argues in a recent blog post hosted by a venture capital firm that the biggest game franchises will rely just as much (if not more) on fans to create content and context than the game developers themselves.

Stadia staff join Jade Raymond at Haven Studios

At least half a dozen more Google Stadia staff have found a new home at Haven Studios, the developer set up by former Stadia games exec Jade Raymond. The list notably includes Corey May, who like Raymond once helped define the early Assassin's Creed series. May served as scriptwriter, lead writer and then narrative director on numerous Assassin's Creed games over the course of a 12-year span, and worked with Raymond on the series' first couple of entries.

A host of Stadia developers have left Google to join Jade Raymond at Haven Studios

The Google Stadia team has lost even more talent after a number of developers upped sticks to join Jade Raymond at the Sony-backed Haven Studios. Haven was formed by Raymond earlier this year following her own departure from Stadia, with the veteran developer having initially being hired by Google in 2019 to oversee its Stadia Games and Entertainment Team along with its now-shuttered Montreal studio.
