Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Gathers helper in win

Trouba recorded an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Hurricanes in Game 3. Trouba ended a four-game point drought with the secondary helper on Chris Kreider's second-period tally. While he was strong with 39 points and plenty of non-scoring production in the regular season, Trouba's been kept a little quieter in the postseason. The 28-year-old blueliner has four points, 30 shots on net, 43 hits, 19 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-3 rating in 10 playoff contests. Even with a slight dip in offense, he'll continue to provide well-rounded production in a top-four role.

Rangers’ Jacob Trouba took out Sidney Crosby from Game 5, will he be suspended?

Jacob Trouba was having a rather pedestrian playoff series up until Game 5 with the New York Rangers facing elimination. The 28 year-old defenseman probably still had coach Gerard Gallant’s criticism of the team playing “soft” echoing in his ears and came out hitting. In an impressive performance, he was a physical presence officially picking up 3 blocks and 2 hits (there were more).

No Jacob Trouba hearing after Crosby collision

As expected, there will be no Jacob Trouba hearing after his collision with Sidney Crosby in Game 5 last night. The collision, which has its best angle above, is incidental contact. Trouba and Crosby are going for the puck, with Trouba’s stick getting tangled in Crosby’s skates. The contact is shoulder to shoulder with some residual head contact. It’s an unfortunate incident, but in no way was Trouba actively head hunting.
