The NHL was rocked by a massive trade in its first week, with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Winnipeg Jets swapping two of the top three picks from the 2016 draft, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Patrik Laine. To everyone’s surprise, however, the most successful season out of that trade was by the third piece, Jack Roslovic.

Roslovic notched two assists, one on the power play, in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Predators. He showed some good chemistry with Emil Bemstrom as the latter recorded a natural hat trick in the third period. Roslovic had been in a scoring funk, managing only one point (a goal) over his prior seven games, but on the season he has a solid 10 goals and 32 points through 45 contests since arriving in Columbus.

Lost among all the hype surrounding the blockbuster deal that saw winger Patrik Laine and center Pierre-Luc Dubois effectively swap teams was the pretty neat story of Jack Roslovic being traded to his hometown team the Columbus Blue Jackets. Roslovic was basically included as a sweetener in the trade that brought an elite talent in Laine to Ohio, while Dubois headed north.
