Gaffney, SC — Four days shy of his 84th birthday, Jack Edward (Bull) Rice, 83, of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on February 15, 2022 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the dedicated and loving husband of Janice Nash Rice for nearly 33 years and the son of the late Ralph Cephus (Jack) Rice and Laura Jeanette Elmore Rice. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and was retired from Monsanto Industry and the gaming and amusement business. He was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Sprouse Sunday School Class and he attended regularly until his failing health.

Scouting Out the Scouts: Jack Rice

Each week Scouting out the Scouts will profile one successful athlete. Last week, we checked out Meg Margolis’s success. On Tuesday, Scouts Soccer finished off their regular season with a tie to Vernon Hills. A hot start of 4-1 record-wise was then followed by Covid issues and missing personnel to end the season at a solid 6-6-5. This still is the best recorded season in the past couple years and certainly an improvement to the 2-7-2 record posted in last year’s season.

Jack Rice named the starter at College of Idaho

The 2017 St. Bernard’s graduate, who led the Crusaders to a state title in football as a junior, was named the starter at College of Idaho earlier this week, winning a tough battle for the position.
