After last week’s revelation of the international jury members who will be handing out the Golden Lion (read our news), the 79th Venice International Film Festival has announced the juries assessing the Orizzonti section and awarding the “Luigi De Laurentiis” Venice First Film Prize, the latter of which will be presided over by Spanish director, screenwriter and producer Isabel Coixet (who scooped 4 Goya awards for The Secret Life of Words.

Isabel Coixet to preside over Venice’s Horizons jury

Spanish filmmaker Isabel Coixet has been named president of the Horizons jury for the Venice Film Festival (August 31 - September 10). Coixet’s credentials include My Life Without Me, The Secret Life Of Words and The Bookshop. Most recently her documentary The Yellow Ceiling was introduced at Cannes Marché 2022 slate.

The Open Reel adds Isabel Coixet documentary ‘The Yellow Ceiling’ to Cannes slate (exclusive)

Italian sales company The Open Reel has unveiled three new additions to its Cannes Marché slate, including Isabel Coixet’s latest film The Yellow Ceiling. The feature documentary, produced by Miss Wasabi Films, tells the story of nine former students at Spain’s Lleida Theatre who filed a complaint against two of their teachers for sexual abuse.
