Hope Charlotte Hicks is an American public relation consultant and former model. She is the outgoing White House Communications Director who serves under President Donald Trump. A native of Connecticut, Hicks graduated college with a degree in English and began her professional life as a public relation officer at the New York City firm Zeno Group. In 2012, she was hired by Hiltzik Strategies, where she met Ivanka Trump, who was one of the company’s most valued clients, for the first time. Two years later, in August 2014, she started working for Ivanka inside the Trump Tower. She began working under Donald Trump himself within a month. Hicks became one of Trump’s most trusted advisors soon after and when the possibility of a presidential campaign came up, Trump considered her as the ideal choice for his press secretary. Following Trump’s initial victories, she chose to work on the campaign full time. She subsequently served as the communications director for Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, the national press secretary for his presidential transition team, and the White House Director of Strategic Communications—a role created for her—between January and September 2017. After her predecessor Anthony Scaramucci resigned, she became the interim White House Communications Director in August. One of the staunchest Trump loyalists, there were already several accusations levelled against her, when on February 27, 2018, in congressional testimony, she confessed to lying on the current US President’s behalf. A day later, her intention of resigning was announced.
