I don’t see it getting any better anytime soon. Calgary was demolished by Edmonton, there can’t be any confidence in Geoff Ward at this point, their $36 million dollar goalie looks fed up. It’s getting ugly and I think it’ll be more of the same tonight. Maddie: Calgary Flames 2...

Glenn Gawdin makes his NHL debut against Edmonton

A little history will be made on Saturday night for the Calgary Flames. Forward Glenn Gawdin will make his National Hockey League debut against the Edmonton Oilers. Gawdin, 23, was originally a fourth round pick by the St. Louis Blues back in 2015. The Blues opted not to sign Gawdin, who was subsequently signed by the Flames as a free agent and went on a monster 2017-18 season that saw him finish second in WHL scoring and named the league’s playoff MVP. He’s in his third pro season and has been a fixture with the AHL’s Stockton Heat in his first two pro seasons, emerging as the team’s best young two-way forward.

Flames' Glenn Gawdin: Returning from loan

Gawdin will attend the Flames' training camp, indicating his loan with EHC VISP Lions of the Swiss League is over. Gawdin signed a two-way contract in October, so he's far from a lock for the Flames' Opening Night roster. He was a star for AHL Stockton last year, when he had 16 goals and 47 points in 53 games. The 23-year-old will likely need at least another year before cracking the NHL lineup.
