George Stevens senior to compete in “Poetry Out Loud” National Semifinals

BLUE HILL, Maine (WABI) - The Maine Arts Commission has named a George Stevens senior Sofya Lantratova its “Poetry Out Loud” State Champion, the first such honor for a student from the school. She’s now entered in Poetry Out Loud’s National Semifinals, and the folks at George Stevens think she has a real shot at becoming the national champion.

Sophomore guard Patrick Dagan made six 3-pointers and the George Stevens Academy defense yielded just three points in the second half as the Blue Hill-based Eagles pulled away from Penobscot Valley of Howland 44-18 in a Class C North boys basketball quarterfinal Wednesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
