Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sits against lefty

Lux is not starting Tuesday's game against the Padres, Eric Stephen of reports. Lux, who has hit just .158 in 57 at-bats against lefties this season, gets the night off as the Dodgers face southpaw Blake Snell. The infielder has hit .281 with a home run and six RBI in his last nine games. Chris Taylor fills in at shortstop Tuesday, with Max Muncy playing second base in his first game off the injured list.

Live updates: Max Muncy, Justin Turner and Gavin Lux hit first-inning homers

On a Florida beach vacation with my family last week, I was under orders not to check my phone too much. But I sneaked a peak last Friday afternoon and was heartened to see a tweet from a Bay Area sportswriter sharing the news that the Oakland A's have renamed their annual Pride Night after Glenn Burke, the former Berkeley High baseball and basketball standout who went on to become the first openly gay Major League Baseball player with the Dodgers and A's in the late 1970s.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Sitting versus left-hander

Lux is not in the starting lineup for Saturdays game against the Rangers. With the Dodgers set to face southpaw Kolby Allard, Lux will get the beginning portion of Saturday's tilt off. Chris Taylor will start at shortstop and bat second.

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Drives in four Friday

Lux went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, two runs and four RBI in Friday's 12-1 win over the Rangers. Lux three-run home run in the first inning capped a six-run rally and he later tacked on an RBI double in the third for his 13th multi-hit game of the season. All six of Lux's homers have come in the past month as his power has drastically improved since April.

Dodgers News: Gavin Lux Explains Collision With AJ Pollock On 2-Run Error

The Los Angeles Dodgers needed only six outs to complete an 8-1 win over the Atlanta Braves when their lead began to slip away. Mitch White’s second inning of work started with a leadoff single followed by a walk. Ozzie Albies it a two-run double with one out, and that prompted Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to turn to Joe Kelly.

Recap: Gavin Lux, Chris Taylor Carry Dodgers To Win Over Cardinals

Gavin Lux and Chris Taylor combined to generate plenty of offense for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 9-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals to snap their three-game losing streak. Trevor Bauer and Jack Flaherty, Southern California natives and in the early race for this season’s National League Cy Young Award, both did their part early in an expected pitchers’ duel. Flaherty entered 1-1 with a 1.08 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers.

Coincidence? Dodgers’ Gavin Lux has been a better hitter as a shortstop

It was only as Lux got closer to the major leagues that the Dodgers moved him to second base on a more frequent basis, anticipating an opening for him there with Seager entrenched at shortstop. But when Seager suffered a fracture in his right hand on May 15, Lux became the Dodgers' shortstop. The position switch roughly coincided with the hot streak that turned around Lux's season.
