Just like it was last offseason for the Chicago Bulls‘ new front office regime, a lot of decisions made this year could be vastly different than in years past. That aforementioned new front office regime of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley will have the option to sign veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple, but that decision wouldn’t be made based on traditional thinking.

Garrett Temple hopes to stay a Bull next season

Garrett Temple was an under-the-radar free agency signing last Fall but his contributions to a young Bulls team was palpable. Entering the offseason as a free agent, he told Chicago media on Monday that he hopes to return to Chicago to continue to be a veteran presence and help the Bulls contend in the East.

A lot can be taken away from these end-of-season press conferences, as players tend to give more matter-of-fact statements than they would during the regular season.

The Bulls’ veteran talked poignantly about his father announcing the motion to select the first Black president in the history of LSU.

Bulls' Garrett Temple: Back to bench

Temple will shift back to the bench Thursday against Charlotte, Bulls radio voice Chuck Swirsky reports. As expected, Temple will move to a reserve role as the Bulls welcome Zach LaVine back to the starting five. Patrick Williams will remain in the lineup at small forward, while Coby White will still get the nod at point guard.

Chicago's Zach LaVine (health protocols) starting on Thursday, Garrett Temple to bench

Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine (health protocols) is starting in Thursday's contest against the Charlotte Hornets. LaVine will make his 54th start this season after Chicago's star guard missed extended time while in health protocols. In an underrated matchup against a Charlotte unit ranked 17th in defensive efficiency, our models project LaVine to score 36.8 FanDuel points at the salary of $9,400.

Garrett Temple starting for Bulls Friday in place of inactive Zach LaVine

Chicago Bulls guard Garrett Temple is in the lineup Friday in the team's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Temple has been coming off the bench, but that's changing on Friday. Zach LaVine is set to miss 10-14 days due to the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols, and as such, a spot has opened up in the lineup. For now, Temple will fill the role, manning a spot on the wing.

Bulls' Garrett Temple: Small role in return

Temple (hamstring) played 10 minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Bulls' 115-106 loss to the Magic, tallying zero points (0-1 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and one assist. Temple reclaimed a spot on the Bulls' second unit after missing the past eight games with a hamstring injury. Expect Temple, Troy Brown and Denzel Valentine to serve as Chicago's main backup options on the wing over the final quarter of the season.

Bulls' Garrett Temple: Probable Wednesday

Temple (hamstring) is probable for Wednesday's contest against the Magic. Temple hasn't played since March 29, which is when he strained his right hamstring. However, the veteran appears to be ready to make his return. We shouldn't be surprised if he's on a minutes limit for his first game back. His return could ultimately mean fewer minutes for Denzel Valentine and Troy Brown.

Bulls' Garrett Temple: Out Monday

Temple (hamstring) is listed as out for Monday's game against Memphis. Temple had been listed as questionable, but ultimately he wasn't expected to play. His next chance to return will be Wednesday against Orlando.

An interesting battle on the hardwood on the night of April 12 is about to take place between first-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls and the Memphis Grizzlies. The Bulls are coming off a tragic loss on the road on April 11 at the hands of the last-place Minnesota Timberwolves and star big man Karl-Anthony Towns.
