Blue Jackets' Gabriel Carlsson: Manages assist

Carlsson recorded an assist in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Stars. Carlsson went four games without a point after opening his campaign with a goal and an assist in his first two outings. The Swede has added seven shots on net and a plus-2 rating in seven contests. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from the 24-year-old blueliner, although he appears to have solidified his spot in the lineup.

Five players clear waivers, including former first-round pick Gabriel Carlsson

Despite some major names being available on the waiver wire over the past 24 hours, all five players have cleared. Montreal’s Paul Byron, Detroit’s Danny DeKeyser and new Carolina acquisition Alex Galchenyuk were all waived for roster flexibility and will be reassigned to their respective taxi squads. Young Columbus defenseman Gabriel Carlsson has been reassigned to the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters in order to get some playing time. Boston’s Par Lindholm has signed a new contract with the SHL’s Skelleftea AIK and will see his NHL contract terminated. No new players have been placed on waivers Monday.

Blue Jackets' Gabriel Carlsson: Hits waivers

Carlsson was waived by the Blue Jackets on Saturday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. Carlsson didn't suit up in any of the first 16 games of the season. In turn, he'll be subject to waivers. If he goes unclaimed, the team can place the 24-year-old on the taxi squad. The Swedish defenseman played just six games with the big club last year, as he spent most of his time in the minors, recording 12 points over 41 contests.

Blue Jackets' Gabriel Carlsson: Deemed unfit to practice

Carlsson (undisclosed) was deemed unfit to practice Monday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports. With many teams opening up camp, the "unfit to practice" line has been flung around frequently, and it has usually referred to players who have not yet fulfilled quarantine requirements. Whether that's the case with Carlsson remains to be seen, as no official clarification was given for his absence. He'll compete for a third-pairing role on Columbus' blue line once cleared to participate.
